Want to know our favourite tricks for keeping produce fresher for longer? You've come to the right place! It's so disappointing when our produce goes off shortly after we purchase it. We want to make sure that never happens again!
Here are the best tips and tricks for keeping your produce fresher for longer:
Apples
Apples should be kept in the fridge and by themselves as they release ethylene gas which ripens produce quickly.
Avocados
Store at room temperature until ripe. Store in a dark cupboard to ripen quickly. Store in the fridge to slow ripening.
Pro Tip: Use an avocado hugger to save your avocados from going brown.
Bananas
These ripen too quickly in the fridge so be sure to store them on your countertop.
Carrots & Celery
Store in a mason jar/glass filled with water.
Ginger
I like to store my ginger in the freezer because it makes grating it super easy but you can also store it in a cool, dark place.
Leafy Greens
Store your greens in a large glass jar and they will last you 2 weeks or more!
Onions & Potatoes
Store in a dark, cold, dry place.
Strawberries
If you plan on eating your strawberries the day you buy them, keep them on the counter. Otherwise, store them in the fridge.
Tomatoes
Store tomatoes on the counter otherwise they'll stop ripening and lose their taste.
