Green City Living Co. DIY homemade

Ever since I started buying candles, I've repurposed them. I love reusing old candle jars and after lots of trial and error, I've found the easiest way to do it!

Check out: 12 INCREDIBLE Ways to Reuse Glass Jars & Empty Candle Jars!

Here's How To Repurpose Candle Jars in 3 EASY Steps:

What You'll Need:

  • Empty Candles Jars (there should be 1-2 inches of candle wax remaining)

  • Hot Water

  • Butter Knife

  • Soap

Step 1: Remove the Wax

Pour hot water into your candle jars. Let it sit for about 2 hours or until the water has cooled. Drain the water and place the remaining candle wax on a paper towel (you can reuse the leftover wax). You may need a butter knife to loosen the wax and wicks from the bottom of the candle. But the wax and wicks should come out very easily. Once you've removed the wax and wick, it's time to soak!

Step 2: Remove the Glue

Let your candle jar sit in warm soapy water for 30 minutes or until the label can easily be peeled off. Give your candle jar a good wash to remove any excess glue or wax from the inside.

Step 3: Dry & Clean

It's time to dry your candle jar. I find that there are often flame marks on my candle jars so I use nail polish remover to get rid of them.
